Family & children
|
Family life is a natural right fundamental to both human dignity and the universal common good and yet, we see today a general and undeniable trend towards the proliferation of national immigration policies that hinder, rather than help, efforts to unify family members who have separated for reasons relation to migration and the search for greater opportunities for personal, social and economic development.
The presence of family raises migrant workers and members of their families to a sociological position comparable with the native borne, promoting not only participation and contribution to the society, but genuine well-being. Were we to lose the human and sociological dimensions of family unity, among migrant families and others, we would lose one of the most powerful forces affecting social cohesion, coherence and societal development.
